We provide Apple users in Central Connecticut with a way to connect with others, to share in the enjoyment of Apple's digital devices.
We're Connecticut's largest Apple User Group and have been meeting continuously since 1984. We provide a relaxed environment and camaraderie that you won't find at the Apple Store, or anywhere. Our focus isn't on technology for technology's sake, but how to get the greatest benefit out of the digital devices that are part of your life.
Our primary focus is on Mac OS X computers, but we spend considerable time on the iPhone/iPod Touch and iPad. We talk about software, accessories, troubleshooting and how to get things done. Our iPhone/iPad special interest group meets every other month. Plus, we have a monthly newsletter that keeps you up to date.
Our gatherings take place on the last Wednesday of every month in Farmington, CT. The all-volunteer board of CMC works hard to select meeting topics and special guests that will engage as many of our members as possible.
Our meetings start with discussion of topical events and then we have "Q&A" where members help each other with computer issues. Then it's time for the main presentation, or our special guest. Past guests include David Pogue, Andy Ihnatko and representatives from companies like Wacom, Adobe, BareBones Software and many others.

This month we meet in a new space and on a new night... Join us Thursday, Jan 26, 2011We've had reservation complications with our usual UConn Health Center location and we will not be meeting there in the immediate future. Our new meeting location is Plainville's Library, which is about 8 miles away from the hospital. This change of venue has also made it necessary for us to meet on a different day, so don't come looking for us on Wednesday. It's this Thursday that you'll find us in the basement of the Library starting at 6:00PM.
So what can you expect to see Thursday? Well I'm glad you asked. We're bringing you 3 Back To Basics sessions devoted to the Mac!
First at 6PM, we have Jerry Esposito talking about the assistive technologies built into OSX, that help with seeing and hearing while using your Mac.
We'll have our usual meeting start activities at 7PM and at 7:30 we'll have our second B2B session with Reggie Dionne. He'll talk about taking advantage of the built-in functions of OSX 10.7 for switching applications, document windows, as well as between separate virtual screens, including the use of gestures.
And finally, at 8:15, we'll have Chris Hart talking about how to get started with DropBox, the excellent online storage service that lets you get at your documents anywhere (and include 2gigs of space for free).
